According to the results of the study, during the intercourse, as much as seven different chemical reactions occur to improve its functioning. It is especially important for older people as sex boosts brain activity later in life.

The release of several hormones, such as oxytocin and serotonin during sex and after climax also contributes to creative thinking and good decision-making.

2. Your Grandmother Has Sex Too

If you think that sex is fading away with the time, you might be totally wrong. An extensive US study have found that most American men and women aged 57 to 85 consider sex important and say that they have sex at least two or three times per month.

Senior men and women also were more open about sexual matters and more than half of them told that they engaged in oral sex, vaginal intercourse and masturbation regularly.

3. Abstinence Programs Fail

Abstinence programs are not working, the study finally proved. A study conducted by the Oxford University analyzed more than 13 trials, including over 15,000 youngsters aged 10 to 21. It was said that no-sex programs do not prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Abstinence was found to have no effect on the rates of STD's and early pregnancies.

Sex affairs bloom at the office with more and more people enjoying sex with their colleagues.

As Australian study proved, one in five men and women have sex at work. Besides the fact that many people admitted to have sex at a workplace, there were also many of them who claimed about doing it during working hours. So if people do mange to have sex at work - what is their favorite place at the office to do it? According to the survey, 25 percent of workers prefer boss's desk, all the other desks of the office, balcony, filing cabinet, lavatory and even at the top of the office building roof.

5. Japanese is the Most Sexless Nation

According to Durex sex survey conducted world-wide in 26 countries, Japanese couples are the most unhappy about their sex lives with more than third of married couples not having sex.

The Japanese Family Planning Association reported that 34,6 percent of couples aged 16 to 49 did not engaged in sexual activity for a month. The results of the global sex survey showed that the most satisfied nation are Nigerians with 67 percent being content with their sex lives. Greeks had sex most frequently in comparison to other nations.

6. Sex Prolongs Men's Life

Men benefit the most from sex if they have sex at least once a week. The latest research found that those who engage in sexual activity regularly are likely to live past 80 years old.
The results of the study revealed that regular sex reduces the risk of death from a stroke by 50 percent, diabetes by 40 per cent and heart disease by 30 per cent.

Scientists from Sydney University also encourage men to have sex daily as it was found that sex on a regular basis improving the quality of sperm making conception more likely to occur.

Men who are widowed at age 65 have the 70 percent increased risk of death.

7. Women Have More Orgasms and More Partners

A poll conducted by Marie Claire magazine, including 1669 women discovered that more women report having orgasm during sex nowadays in comparison to the findings of 1994 survey with less than a third having orgasm.
Only two percent of all respondents claimed about faking orgasm and 65 percent saying that they would confess to their partner about not having an orgasm.

These days women aged 20 to 30 have 10,5 sex partners on average in comparison to 5 partners in 2005. And though sex is important for most women, most of them value friendship, trust and fidelity above everything. As mush as 75 percent of all women said they did not cheated on their partner.

8. Women Fantasize about Group Sex

During the survey on women's sexual preferences, more than two thirds of women respondents admitted to fantasize about having group sex and a quarter dreamed about starring in a porn movie.

One in five women said they would like to have lesbian sex with 13 percent fantasizing about having sex with a woman. More women admitted their kinky preferences saying that they would not mind being spanked. Almost 12 percent dreamed about being kidnapped.

9. Oral Sex was Linked to Throat Cancer

Probably the most devastating study was conducted by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, US. The study said that people who had given oral sex to more than five partners in their lifetime have the increased risk of having throat cancer. The scientists suggested that human papilloma virus, which causes most cervical cancers, may also lead to oral cancer.

The researchers believe that the findings will encourage men and women practice safer sex and use condoms during oral sex.

10. Chocolate can Substitute Sex

Don't get upset if for the time being you cannot have sex. The research found that chocolate can turn you on even more than sex, with its effect lasting four times longer than cuddling or kissing to a significant other. It was also discovered that when we eat chocolate our heart beat increases twice and all brain areas receive a boost that is as much or even more intense than one during sex.

Does it mean that chocolate is really better than sex? While more than half of British women preferred chocolate to sex, the most people are still convinced that nothing is better than having a hot romp.
